Analysis and finite element simulations of a second‐order fluid model in a bounded domain

This article is concerned with the equations governing the steady motion of a viscoelastic incompressible second‐order fluid in a bounded domain. A new proof of existence and uniqueness of strong solutions is given. In addition, using appropriate finite element methods to approximate a coupled equivalent problem, sharp error estimates are obtained using a fixed point argument. The method is applied to the two‐dimensional lid‐driven cavity problem, at low Reynolds number and in a certain range of values of the viscoelastic parameters, to analyze the combined effects of inertia and viscoelasticity on the flow. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hilbert algebras as implicative partial semilattices

The infimum of elements a and b of a Hilbert algebra are said to be the compatible meet of a and b, if the elements a and b are compatible in a certain strict sense. The subject of the paper will be Hilbert algebras equipped with the compatible meet operation, which normally is partial. A partial lower semilattice is shown to be a reduct of such an expanded Hilbert algebra i ?both algebras have the same ?lters.An expanded Hilbert algebra is actually an implicative partial semilattice (i.e., a relative subalgebra of an implicative semilattice),and conversely.The implication in an implicative partial semilattice is characterised in terms of ?lters of the underlying partial semilattice.     

Multiscale Finite Element Modeling of Arc Dynamics in a DC Plasma Torch

The dynamics of the electric arc inside a direct current non-transferred arc plasma torch are simulated using a three-dimensional, transient, equilibrium model. The fluid and electromagnetic equations are solved numerically in a fully coupled approach by a multiscale finite element method. Simulations of a torch operating with argon and argon–hydrogen under different operating conditions are presented. The model is able to predict the operation of the torch in steady and takeover modes without any further assumption on the reattachment process except for the use of an artificially high electrical conductivity near the electrodes, needed because of the equilibrium assumption. The results obtained indicate that the reattachment process in these operating modes may be driven by the movement of the arc rather than by a breakdown-like process. It is also found that, for a torch operating in these modes and using straight gas injection, the arc will tend to re-attach to the opposite side of its original attachment. This phenomenon seems to be produced by a net angular momentum on the arc due to the imbalance between magnetic and fluid drag forces.

Mechanical alloying of a thermoelectric alloy: Pb0.65Sn0.35Te

We report in this paper a study of the mechanical alloying (MA) process for the Pb_0.65Sn_0.35Te alloy. MA has been carried out in a high-energy planetary ball mill. The mechanism of formation has been studied from systematic analyses of mechanically alloyed powders using X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy. As it was already observed for the MA of PbTe, this synthesis is associated with an exothermic reaction between the elemental powders. The required time to reach an homogeneous phase Pb_0..65Sn_0.35Te is 31 h.     

Spectral studies of bridged bisindenylmetallocenes and products of their reactions with polymethylalumoxane in toluene and dichloromethane in the visible region

Quantitative characteristics of changes in the energy of charge transfer from -bonded ligands to metal are presented for the series of structurally similar ansa-metallocene complexes of IVB Group elements. The changes are caused by the solvation effect, replacement of -bonded chlorine ligands by methyl groups and of bridging ethylene groups by dimethylsilylene moieties, introduction of the methyl substituent into position 2 and phenyl substituent into position 4 of the indenyl system, variation of the transition metal in metallocene, and formation of complexes with polymethylalumoxane (MAO) at different Al_MAO/Zr ratios. These effects are found to be additive.     

男性型秃发患者发中K,Na,Ca,Mg元素含量分析

采用火焰原子吸收法对３０例男性型秃发患者及３８例毛发健康男性对照者发中宏量元素Ｋ、Ｎａ、Ｃａ、Ｍｇ的含量进行了测定。结果表明，男性型秃发患者发Ｋ含量明显高于对照组，具有统计学上的显著差异（Ｐ〈０．０１）。发Ｎａ、Ｃａ、Ｍｇ含量在两组间未见显著差异（Ｐ〉０．０５）。本文提示，体内某些宏量元素变化对男性型秃发可能产生一定影响。     

沈阳市健康人血清中Mg、Zn、Cu、Se、Cr含量及其相关关系探讨

报告了143例沈阳市健康人血清中Mg、Zn、Cu、Se、Cr含量及Cu／Zn值，并指出健康人血清中Mg与Cu量正相关，Mg与Cr呈负相关，Mg与Cu／Zn值呈正相关.Zn与Cr呈正相关.Zn与Cu/Zn呈负相关.Cu与Cr呈负相关。Cu与Cu／Zn值呈负相关.Cr与Cu／Zn值呈负相关.
